you see. a lot of people on this site have started to use “broke containment” when any post gets popular outside of their circle of friends, but its original use was when it was a vague fandom post (usually supernatural) gets reblogged by people outside the fandom

My queers, we really need to put the “no men” thing away. Men are not inherently bad. There are queer men. There are questioning men. There’s men that are just plain cool. Denying these men a space at our table is not helping - except the TERFs. I just came off the back of reading a transphobe gleeful rant about the need to have pride without men - They of course mean me. This kind of stuff is damaging to me and I really need us all to take a step back and maybe kill this “men dni, men not allowed” stuff. What you mean is “no men who are going to do mean stuff to me.” And frankly those men won’t give a shit about that kind of boundary.
But I promise you there’s a fleet of good honest men who will see that and be sad they’re not allowed in your version of queer spaces.
This is just too awesome! Ron Perlman just made mini-Hellboy’s day!
I got to work on a show with Ron Perlman about 30 years ago. He was just the kindest guy you had ever met. That shoot was real tough, and he is one of the good memories from production.
I’ve seen him maybe twice since then, and he’s remembered me both times. It’s something that matters, you know?
I hung out with Ron Perlman for two weeks, in Budapest, but I tend to forget that I ever hung out with Ron in Budapest, and would tend reflexively to put him in the category of people I have never met, because he was always in full Hellboy costume and make-up. Hellboy was incredibly nice.
Shout out to trans women who aren’t computer scientists or musicians or avant-garde artists or whatever.
Shout-out to tgirls who work at Taco Bell. Thank u queen, society would collapse without you
Over twenty years ago my big brother got me a job at a Taco Bell in the St. Louis suburbs-West County. He warned me that it was the “gay Taco Bell”, but since I was coming from the “gay Howard Johnson’s” I wasn’t shocked. It turns out it was the black trans women Taco Bell complete with black trans women in management. And they’d worked out an arrangement with the local teen Narcotics Anonymous group so that twice a week we would shut down the drive thru and the dining room and exclusively serve 60+ teens in various stages of recovery. And many of the women I worked with were in various stages of being out or transitioning and they were from all generations from teens to over 50. One woman I worked with had a regular corporate job presenting as a man 9-5 Mon-Fri and then came to Taco Bell and worked 6pm -2am Friday and Saturday night so she could be herself surrounded by other black transwomen in those stolen weekends. And we had customers come from all over the metro area because they knew they could be themselves in the dining room. I only worked there from 1999-2001 but for young me, this was a vital, formative experience. Some of the girls came from north city all the way out to the “gay Taco Bell” on Manchester in west county because they heard it was safe to work there. Like- I know times have changed but they haven’t changed much in 20 years. I’m still convinced that for lgbt youth, finding a job at your city’s version of the “gay Taco Bell” is key to survival.
The alleged infringement in this case is an extremely common chord progression. A victory for the Gaye estate in this case would have a disastrous impact on the music industry writ large. As unlikable as Ed Sheeran is, you don’t want him to lose this case.
(the Gaye estate has pulled this shtick before when they sued Pharrell and Robin Thicke over “Blurred Lines,” and while I despise that song, it had a similarly deleterious effect on music)
Always remember when it comes to cases like this: it doesn’t matter how you feel about the celebrity in question, what matters is how the case will impact the industry and smaller creators.
“creepy or wet” being the lasting impact of the gym copypasta is funny because that wasn’t like… a fully bot-generated post. the only things being changed from the original greentext were two words,
based and cringe
btw the gym copypasta was already a riff on “is the movie reddit or not”
